Meet the Teaching Artist: Katherine Perrine 2012-11


 
Kathryn has been a lifelong learner of the arts. Native to Ohio, she moved to Texas in 1982 and began the journey to enhance her artistic skills. She has been sewing since she was 8 years old, later teaching sewing to girls ages 9-18, and traveled to all the major fashion capitols such as London, Italy, New York and Toronto. Taking over 10 classes with International arts instructor and exhibit curator Cynthia Padilla, Kathryn has mastered skills in Soft Pastels, Drawing, Watercolor, On location/Plein Air Sketching, Colored Pencil, Pen and Ink, and Acrylics which has added to her many talents.


Retiring after 25 years service from Nortel Networks, where she was a Human Resource Coordinator, taught Team Building, and assisted in the development of and taught both personal skills and technical classes.


When not involved with her artwork, she enjoys flower gardening, her 3 grandchildren, and playing on the 2010 Women over 40 National Championship Ice Hockey team. She volunteers for the Covington Community Outreach Association and is a member of the Plano Art Association.


She attended Edison State College in Ohio, Richland College in Texas and the University of Texas at Dallas obtaining a degree in Business Management.
